Virtuozzo Joins Cloud Native Computing Foundation

Blog

Today we’re excited to announce Virtuozzo has joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as a founding member. As a pioneer in the virtualization of data center technologies — we developed the first commercially available containers in 2001 — Virtuozzo is thrilled to be part of such an important initiative to further develop the scope and usage of these critical areas of technology.

The Foundation’s goal is to create and drive the adoption of a new set of common container technologies based on technical merit and value to end users. For now, CNCF is focusing on the development of open-source technologies, reference architectures, and shared standards for cloud-native applications or services. The CNCF has a vision of ecosystem interoperability and the avoidance of vendor lock-in, two more reasons that Virtuozzo decided to join as a founding member. For similar reasons, last week Virtuozzo also joined the Open Container Initiative. In combination, these groups hope to reshape the technology landscape for both service providers and enterprises.
